Burnout Revenge is the fourth installment of the ever popular Burnout series from Criterion Games, and the second published by EA. It is clearly heavily influenced by the success of Burnout 3: Takedown, where many online races degenerated into huge crash fests.

Last September, I called Burnout 3: Takedown one of the best titles of the year thanks to its gameplay and its redefinition of the racing genre. I still happen to hold to that feeling. In fact, if I'm having a bad day or am in-between articles, I'll still fire up this title and get a race to two in.

The Burnout-series is without a doubt one of the most popular arcade racers of the moment. Especially with the previous title, Burnout: Takedown, Criterion hit the nail on the head.

Burnout Revenge lets gamers rip through rush hour traffic and lay waste to scores of rubbernecking roadhogs in an over-the-top scene of vehicular mayhem. Not only that, but they've also kindly rehashed the graphics and slapped the game onto the Xbox 360 with all the great features of the first game plus jaw dropping visuals and achievements making the game even more exciting.

Well we've said everything we have had to say about Burnout Revenge in our original review, praising it for its clever track designs and improving upon the third game in the series in a way, which we thought wasn‘t possible.

It may have started out as just another post-Ridge Racer driving game with a unique focus on beautifully destructive car crashes, but over the years, the Burnout series has really carved out its own spot in the racing genre.

Completely mind-blowing sound effects; Unmatched sense of speed; Tight control; Great player-matching and online play

A little too much track repetition; Online crash mode still doesn't feel quite right without slow motion and aftertouch; Checked traffic sometimes bounces around like it's weightless

EA proclaim that Burnout: Revenge " reignites battle racing " and is " without doubt the fastest most dangerous racing game on 4 wheels ". Of course we heard all this just a few short months ago when Burnout: Revenge was released to the masses on what we could effectively call last generation...

Fun and stunning gameplay mechanics of Burnout with the graphical prowess of the Xbox 360 - need I say more I guess I should, else my editor will strip me of my reviewing privileges and condemn me to doing only lowly database work for her sites.

I love this game. It's a shame the studio is gone, but the game lives on. I love to crash in racing games and this scratches all the itches for me. It also works on Xbox One.
