Brother MFC-J430W

Brother's range of personal inkjet all-in-ones all look suspiciously similar, but the company manages to differentiate them by careful choice of features and prices. The MFC-J430W sits just above entry-level and is a little more austere than some of its pricier siblings.
Pros:
  • Well-featured software bundle
  • Easy to use
  • ‘inverted' ADF
  • Wireless connection with WPS
Cons:
  • Pale colour photo copies
  • No photo card readers
  • Small LCD display

The $99 MFC-J430W has many features important to small and home offices, and it prints good-looking documents respectably fast. But $50 more could land you a much more full-featured printer. Choose cautiously.
Pros:
  • High-quality prints
  • copies
  • and scans
  • Fast
  • Entry-level price
Cons:
  • No automatic duplexer
  • Somewhat high cost of consumables
  • Slow processing when printing pages in reverse order

Great value for the money.

The print quality is excellent, setup is very easy and the OCR software included is promising. A little less noise and vibration would be nice, but for what I paid for it and what we expect ask of it, the bargain is ours. I used the included DVD for the initial setup on my laptop.
Pros:
  • It's a low cost, ($69 I paid on sale), easy to set up and use all in one
  • And the print quality has been close to excellent
Cons:
  • Like other inkjet printers I have used, it shakes a bit
  • And the plastic used in it's case and parts, while adequately strong enough, does seem a bit on the flimsy side
