Review of the Brother MFC-7860DW Laser Printer

The Bottom Line The Brother MFC-7860DW is a multifunction laser printer that offers automatic duplexing, wireless or wired networking, and a 250-sheet paper tray. I found it quiet, fast, and reliable--and prints look outstanding.

Very fast; Built-in duplexer; Wired / Wireless networking built in and easy to set up

LCD is difficult to read; Printing from smart-phone apps doesn't include Blackberry

This multifunction laser is a good fit for small businesses that need a text-document printer, but its image scanning and copying are subpar.

Outstanding text quality; Automatic duplexing

Subpar copying; scanning; A bit pricey; Low monthly duty cycle

Brother MFC-7860DW

The MFC-7860DW is an all-in-one monochrome laser printer for businesses that produce volumes of 250 to 2,000 pages per month and are looking for a product with additional features (copier, scanner, fax).

Cost per page; Wi-Fi; Double-sided printing; Responsive; Fast; Low energy consumption (1 W in sleep mode; Compatible with Mac; Windows & Linux

Noisy; Low image quality for printing and copying

Brother MFC-7860DW review Review

The Brother MFC-7860DW is, on the whole, a decent multi-function printer. It offers a broad range of features, pumps out pages at a fairly fast pace, and produces good-quality text output. We just wish its graphics output were cleaner.

Fast print speed; Good text quality; Relatively cheap running costs

Expensive; Graphics print quality could be better

Not bad

I don't think it's a bad all in one. Fan runs constantly "too Noisy" you serious? Maybe he got a defective one, but not happening here. I've had several brands of printers in the past to include all in one's and Brother brand seems to be the most reliable, and durable.

works well with mac

i can't think of one at the moment

I Love this thing!

My biggest problem is the autofeed scanner. It scans everything except about 0.5cm from the edges for the standard size (8.5x11) printing paper, but it is pretty consistent. Any smaller it seems to get all the surface area.

Very reliable; Works great; The starter toner lasted me a very long time even though it tells me that the toner is low; I just keep printing and it's fine; I heard this is common for it to show up early but you're suppose to have a back up handy and swap when it starts to print bad.

I don't have a problem with the noise but I can see where it can annoy people that are picky; It is pretty loud but sounds perfectly normal for a printer.

MFC-7860DW LASER P/S/C/F WL

the duplexing (front and back side printing) is a lovely feature. Reducing and putting two small versions of the copy on one regular saves paper and toner and trees.

Small footprint; set-up genie was very helpful; toner is available lots of places

lightweight doors; etc.; envelope feeder hard to adjust; ADF not opened all the time

Besides that it's a great printer and I would recommend it anyways

I would give this printer 5 stars, but I do have difficulty with the wireless connection sometimes. I have to clear the settings and reenter the information every once in a while. Besides that it's a great printer and I would recommend it anyways.

Great multi function printer!

My wife and I have separate offices in our house and we print and scan a lot. This printer is perfect for us! The wireless works perfectly and we are extremely satisfied with this machine. You can't go wrong with it.

We had an Epson Workforce 610 before this...it worked great for about 10 months and then it started to breakdown. The auto-document feeder started to jam and skip pages. We tried an HP after that, but it was not up to par--it scanned and printed really slowly.

Customizable; Easy To Set Up; Easy to Use; Pretty fast printscan; Reliable

Flimsy Construction; Loud
