Mono laser printers start at under ￡100 and the entry-level model in Brother's range is the HL-2130, which can be had for only a tad more than ￡80. For this, you get a basic, but very serviceable personal laser for the home or small office.

The Brother HL-2130 may not offer the last word in print quality, and it's not the cheapest laser printer in the long term. But its petite design, fast print speed and low price tag all work heavily in its favour. For those with less demanding printing needs, it's definitely worth checking out.

Great reliable printer as I only print text.. Much more economical than the inkjet printers I've had before and no endless head alignment and head cleaning issues.

I've owned two of this printer's predecessors, the HL 2030. The first died of plastic fatigue, the second is on its way. Why buy another? It's reliable, cheap to run and gives good results i've never changed a drum.

Picked this up today (thanks to Nathan at Seven hills NSW store for his excellent customer service). Having never used a laser printer, I didn't know what to expect. This printer is fast! Pages take about a second to pop out, it's so quiet.

Good printer, but ... very disappointed with toner output; currently showing 1237 pages printed and toner warning light on and have so far used original and now getting to end of 2nd replacement toner.

Had this laser for some time now and honestly can't fault it. Hard working, fast and reliable and best of all cheap! Forget the constant trips to the shops for cartridges when the little beggars print out their school projects, this printer literally will print 1000's of pages before it asks you to...

The HL-2130 is currently available at £88.13.  A replacement cartridge giving up to 1,000 pages is priced at £33.57 while a new drum unit, rated at 12,000 pages, will cost £70.80.
