Bose SoundTouch 30 Quick Review

We've already given you our thoughts regarding the company's SoundTouch 20 , and now we have in our hands its bigger sibling - the Bose SoundTouch 30 . It basically has the same functionalities and features as the smaller model but what would make you want to buy it?

Bose SoundTouch 30

SoundTouch 30 is a wireless music system that streams songs via DLNA, Spotify, Deezer, internet radio and Bluetooth, as well as forming part of a multiroom network with other SoundTouch speakers.

Robust build quality; Powerful; room-filling sound with solid bass; Fast; intuitive smartphone app with integrated Spotify

No AirPlay or hi-res support; Big blocky design

Bose SoundTouch 30 series III

For many years Sonos had the DIY wireless multiroom audio market largely to itself, but it's now facing serious competition from...well, pretty much every company you can think of. But perhaps the biggest challenge is Bose, which is also targeting mainstream consumers and has been steadily improving...

The Bose SoundTouch 30 is a large, likable tabletop Wi-Fi speaker which offers convenience features like Bluetooth and shortcut buttons; The app is pleasant to use and most functions are straightforward; The sound is immediately impressive with deep bass and an articulate, exciting midrange.

Bass is overemphasized by default and can distort at higher volumes; The revealing nature of the speaker means some genres of music can sound quickly tiresome; There's no mute button; The competing Sonos offers more services over Wi-Fi, more sound-tailoring features and a better app

Bose's SoundTouch speakers work over a home's wireless network, either independently or as part as a network of modular speakers. The idea behind modular sound systems is you can fill each room with its own speaker and still play the same song over them wirelessly, or play different songs across...

Wonderfully loud sound; Modular setup; Simple interface

No Bluetooth; Not enough support for online services
