Borderlands Review

when I realized Gearbox Software really did manage to combine the first person shooter and RPG without quite nearly the compromise we've seen in other developers' efforts. With the spin and rattle of a revolver's chamber, with the satisfying clicks of dropping new shells into a shotgun, and with the...

Borderlands

Borderlands is good. Borderlands is very good. Borderlands is so good that it's kept me away from "Game of the Year" Uncharted 2 for over two weeks. And it's not like Uncharted 2 is a poor game, it's not, but Borderlands (and let's keep this between you and me), Borderlands is better.

A brilliant pastiche of role-playing and shooting; taking the best of both worlds and melding it into an unstoppable force of a game

The language and content is strictly adult only; but you just know that young kids will be playing this; even if they shouldn't

Borderlands (PC)

Borderlands is a unique first-person shooter (FPS) and role-playing game (RPG) hybrid from Gearbox Software. While other games combine a first-person perspective with a role playing game, or the other way around, Borderlands is unique among these.

The Good, the Bad, and the Just Plain Stoopid

Borderlands was rather hastily compared to everything from Fallout 3 to Diablo 2 in the months before its release, but the recent slew of trailers featuring foul-mouthed robots and psychotic bandits, along with the colourful and controversial cover art, suggested a wicked sense of humour more akin...

Fun and addictive; Very entertaining co-op; Fantastic weapons

AI almost non-existent; Lack of variety; Buggy

Borderlands Review

Borderlands has seen quite a bit of change in its design since it was first seen back in 2007. What was once a moody and story-centric open-world FPS, is now reborn as a stylized cross between role playing games and first person shooters.

It's a massive open world with plenty of cannon fodder

Static environments and a thin narrative can make the world around you seem bland

Borderlands: The Secret Armoury of General Knoxx review

It's a case of third time's a charm for this DLC. Simply put, it's a must-buy for any Borderlands fan.

Increased level cap; Awesome new loot to find and use; New vehicles which are fun to ride in with friends; Plenty of new enemies to fight; Decent narrative for the missions; More of that great Borderlands sense of humour.

The environments don't add anything that new; Might be a bit too "more of the same" for some people; Difficulty scaling is a bit off.

Borderlands Review

Borderlands is an undeniably fun game with a killer concept, innovative game mechanics, a gorgeous art style, and kick-ass cooperative gameplay, but it also includes some frustrating design choices that require the player to bend to the limitations of the game.

Amazing combat; millions of possible weapons; fun mashup gameplay

Friends must be same level for multiplayer; no mini-map; no world map; no goal marker in fast travel

Test Borderlands

Borderlands Review

(continued from previous page) ...You'll split experience points and money, but loot is left open as a free-for-all. You can duel your friends anywhere, but there are specific arenas built for multiplayer dual battles.

The co-op experience is one of the best on the market; The countless loot scattered through the world; The striking; artistic visual quality

The repetitive quests; The lack of a strong storyline; Glitches that got us stuck in awkward situations

To Aer Is Human

Ten years is a long time. Wait, I think I've started a review this way already. Anyways, Namco Bandai's Tales series has now been in North America for ten years, and with this auspicious landmark, the popular franchise has made its way to the new generation of consoles with Tales of Vesperia .
