Beyerdynamic T1 v2 headphones – the One or not the One?

Like all things German, the Beyerdynamic T1 headphones, now in second iteration, are built to last… sound-wise, it's a matter of how you like your sonic seasoning.

The new T1 now evens out the sonic inconsistencies of its predecessor; Where v1 did some things well and others not, the new kid does a consistent job; Presentation is confident, there's an overall sense of tonal balance and nuance, accuracy is spot on with a slight hint of musicality.

Treble may seem slightly sharp on certain tracks; I would've liked this tempered just ever so slightly; The semi-open design is a conscious decision by the company; As a preference, I gravitated to the T90 for the open-back airiness

Goondu review: Beyerdynamic T 1 (2nd generation) and A 2

Having owned a pair of original Beyerdynamic T 1s for the past three years, I approached the new second-gen units with a lot of excitement. Surely, the sound has to be better.

The Beyerdynamic T1 came out late last year, but it's still garnering attention as a flagship model that doesn't skip on sound. With a price tag of $1099 and whopping 600-ohm impedance, what can the T1 do for you?

beyerdynamic T1 2nd Generation

The Beyerdynamic brand has been a company that I definitely put some blame on for getting me so into this hobby. Back when I was working in an audio store in the airport Beyerdynamic was one of the heavy hitters we carried and it was easy to see why and ever since then I've continuously heard about...

Very neutral yet musical sound; wonderful construction; very comfortable; detachable cable; scales well; forgives lesser quality sources

The stock cable is very stiff

True high-end headphones

As an ordinary listener and now as a classical-music reviewer for MusicWeb International I've worked my way through quite a few headphones - Beyerdynamic, AKG, Grado, Stax and Sennheiser.

They are so good that I bought five of these for all my toilets. Now I really enjoy going to the potty and listening to music while I do my business. Even the smell is a lot more tolerable after I put on the headphones. After all, for that cost, they have to be life changing, don't they?

Beyerdynamic T1 Gen 2

The Beyerdynamic T1 Gen 2 are top-end headphones. They cost £849 / $1,049 / AU$1,999 and are a bit like a turbo-charged version of the popular Beyerdynamic DT880 .

Excellent detail and dynamics; Lush sound; Refreshingly normal look and feel

Warm tone doesn't promote mid definition as much as some
