Not "drummers headphones" only.

People tend to misunderstand the purpose of these headphones. To clear things up, they are quite opposites to the DT770 pro, with emphasis on mids and recessed bass and treble. For drumming the strong mid transients makes them perfect for tracking as it's really easy for the drummer to hear all the...

Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO review

The good time girls of Beyerdynamics's range of headphones, if you're after big bass combined with a hi-fi high end, the DT 770s are a great buy

Thumping bass; great isolation; comfort

Not the most mature-sounding headphone out there

Beyerdynamic DT770 review

Closed-back headphones are rare in the serious hi-fi world. On the whole, it seems, those listening in private prefer not to be cut off from the outside world. And besides, closed-back cans have a reputation for a more 'boxed-in' sound than the open-back variety.

Bass is admirably strong

There can be traces of the midrange coloration

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Studio

Way back before headphones became a multi-billion dollar industry, the options available for people to buy were rather meager. You mostly had earbuds, a selection of on-ears (predominantly Sennheiser) and professional monitor headphones, and never the thrice should meet.

The Beyerdynamic DT 770 Studio is a well-built monitor headphone which sounds more open and dynamic than its closed-back construction might suggest; The headphones offer a level of comfort not offered by other professional headphones

The DT 770 Studio suffers from limited distribution and is easily confused with other similarly-named, but very different sounding, DT 770 models; The non-removable three-meter cable means the headphone is poorly suited to mobile use

The new Beyerdynamic DT 770 M, selling for $179.00 is marketed toward drummers and Front of House mix engineers because of its extreme sound isolation. It also includes a volume control on the cable. But are these the only changes to the headphones?

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Studio

There's very little not to like about the classic Beyerdynamic DT 770 Studio. They stack up against the top headphones for tracking out there-with more body and depth than the less expensive, but always reliable, Sennheiser HD 280 Pro.

Excellent audio performance, with superb high frequency clarity and accuracy; Comfortable, secure fit; Very little sound leakage

Not for use with mobile devices; No removable cable; Not for those seeking highly boosted bass
