The 770's got re-spec'd (check the Beyerdynamic site, they are quite clear about it) so old reviews, or references to older stock in newer reviews can be misleading. The newer model seems less robust, less durable, and is definetly +8 db at 100 Hz, so the bass is fat.
A bass lover's phone for sure. Can be fun with the right music. But the bass is of the one-note "whump" variety and that gets boring. Still, can be good with rock. I've noticed some pretty sucked out mids, though, so vocals suffer. And for a bass-head phone, the highs can get pretty brittle.
Fun Bass
Mids? What mids
Sources: iPhone4 alone, iPhone4 with FiiO E17 using LOD, various computers using Audioengine D1 DAC and the D1's headphone out. First impression of the Beyer DT770LE: Dark and slightly cavernous sound, and a bit crispy on the high end.
I am very happy with these headphones so far! I have cleaer sound from high to low and extra bass for electric drum set bass, is NOT an issue. With other headphones I did have some trouble seinheisser and NADY were, for the model I had not enough volume or range. Nady qh360 and Seinheisser HD210.
I bought these shortly after my Sennheiser 280 Pro's started cracking near the headband. They still work, but I'll keep them as my backup's. The Beyerdynamics include a completely different design than the more portable Sennheisers, but that's not really a bad thing.
Quality; sound; great brand name; unique style
Maybe too bassy for some; but not me
I am very pleased with the quality of these headphones, they give very good insulation in both live studio and FOH work, they are very comfortable I have used them for several three hour periods during band rehearsals whilst mixing multi track takes and also for one and ahalf hour sessions for
The first thing to point out here is that the DT770s are a closed-back design. This means sound doesn't escape through the outside of each earphone – so you won't annoy your neighbour on the train the way you would with a noisier, open-backed design.
Closed-back design; powerful sound; very comfortable
Rivals offer more insight; detail and overall resolution
Drummer's...you HAVE to buy these headphones! If you want to save your hearing use these headphones. They allow you to LOWER the level in the headphones due to the 35dB ambient noise reduction. Whatever you are monitoring you can listen at a VERY comfortable level and still hear your kit!
Clear Sound; Easy To Use; Powerful; Professional Functions
- How long you use it? 7-8 months very regularly. - What is so special that you love the most, least?
