I was surprised by the decent sound.

Never thought I would write a positive review about a beats headphone. At the $139 I paid these have a place. Worth a listen.

They sound pretty good; Nowhere near my Byerdynamic T51i

Junk plastic; Clamping makes you feel like your head is in a vice

On-ear Beats Solo 2 steps up its design and sound

It's been a long time coming, but a day after Beats officially announced its sale to Apple for $3 billion, it released the successor to its on-ear Solo , one of the most popular headphones in the world.

The Beats Solo 2 on-ear headphones are sturdier and better-sounding than the original Solos, with somewhat more balanced sound and strong, tight bass; They offer a relatively comfortable fit and have an inline remote and microphone for making cell phone calls.

Fairly pricey; some people may find they fit too snug

For quite some time now, Beats has been one of the most highly visible brands in the world of consumer audio, and considering the company has recently been acquired by Apple, it isn't likely that will slow down any time soon.

It depends. From a purely performance-based standpoint, the wireless Solo2s do a pretty OK job delivering the sound one might expect from premium headphones, provided you don't mind a bass-heavy audio profile and music coming in and leaking out.

Beats Solo 2 review

The Beats Solo 2 are a big improvement on the old model sonically, with greater clarity and less destructive bass. They'll sell by the truckload. But if you care about sound more than anything else, they're still not the headphones for you. Beats Solo 2 release date: Out now Beats Solo 2 price: £169

Improved sound; Neat look; Good isolation

Bullish bass; Headband is a bit tight

Beats Solo 2 Wireless review

The Beats Solo 2 Wireless headphones look great, feel great and sound great. Sure, you can get better-sounding cans for this price, but with Beats you're ultimately paying for fashion. Thankfully, the gap between style and substance is now smaller than ever.

Look great, Comfortable, Long battery life, Great sound, Beats has made a great pair of headphones even better by cutting the cord, with few other tweaks; The battery life is good, the cans still feel comfortable on your ears, and the design is more handsome than ever

Expensive; Sound needs improvement at the low end; The sound range is much improved over the Solo and Solo HD; though still pretty bassy; but there are better sounding headphones for this price.

Review: Beats Solo 2 headphones

Headphones sure don't look like what they used to. Rather than stick with the tried and true logic of providing people black boxes for their ears, headphones are now a fashion item, and one of the companies that started this trend is updating, with the sequel to the Solo cans.

Comfortable; Thick and durable cable; Foldable; Excellent sound

Only one cable in the pack

Review: Beats Solo 2 - Headphones that sound as good as they look

Since first pair of Beats was released in 2008, the brand has had somewhat of a negative stigma attached to it. Audiophiles have panned the headphones' bass heavy sound, dubbed them over-priced and dismissed them as nothing more than a fashion accessory.

When style meets sound – Beats Solo2 Review

Beats Solo2 is an elegant and nice looking headphone. Its stylish look is complemented by sound clarity and awesome soundstage. The bass is not too overwhelming, which allows you to enjoy listening to the vocal and other instruments in a song as well.
