Battlefield 4

If there's one thing you can expect from a Battlefield game, it's destruction. In our first moments with the newest addition to the series, we escaped from a sinking car by shooting out its windshield, blew up a looming helicopter, and slid off the roof of a crumbling five-story building, only to...

+ Stellar multiplayer; with Levolution and Commander mode adding to what's already great; + Great opening level of the campaign..

? When will DICE figure out how to make great single-player

Battlefield 4

It's been near impossible for shooter franchises to compete with Call of Duty over the last six years. Battlefield 3 had the most realistic shot at knocking the perennial king off his throne, but ultimately fell short.

+ Fantastic multiplayer experience; + "Levolution" x 10; + Fantastic graphics; + Commander Mode returns

- Boring single player characters; - Various sound issues; - Map/mode mismatching

Battlefield 4 Review

While Battlefield 4's next-gen outing offers something new and exciting in terms of multiplayer – 64-players – and in visuals – it looks fantastic and runs at 60 frames per second – the current gen version is more of the same, with no real evolution aside from a few instances of "levolution.

Battlefield 4 Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Review

The current-gen version of isn't the ideal way to play, but it isn't damaged or deficient despite its limitations. It accomplishes less than you'll see on other platforms, but it's still a great multiplayer shooter that makes the most of its ambitions.

Incredible map design; Dynamic environments; Rewarding Commander Mode

Map/mode mismatches; Mediocre single-player

Battlefield 4 Review

While the current-gen version of Battlefield 4 fails to match the sleekness and scale of its next-gen counterpart, DICE's achievements on the age-old hardware are commendable. There are the usual visual compromises: for the most part the frame rate hovers around its target 30FPS, only creaking when...

Overall, a game worth getting, even though campaign is short it is good to play

Coming off the back of a very successful Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4 had a lot to live up to. But some aspects of the game feel slightly disappointing. For me, the campaign was too short. Only 7 missions. 7 missions for a storyline which felt rushed.

You will never play COD again after playing Battlefield4....

Not tried the story mode yet but the multiplayer is by far the best 1st person shooter there is. Loads of the Battlefield regular vehicles like tanks,APCs, jeeps, planes, helicopters but added in BF4 are new types of gun boats as well as new guns, camos and equipment.

Battlefield 4

Multiplayer shooters don't get better than Battlefield 4. Incredible destruction, smart map design, and solid tech combine to produce a true showcase for PS4 and PC. While solo play still lags behind, it's a big step up from BF3.

Multiplayer is genre-leading; again; Levolution and destruction is amazing; Single-player is much improved..

...but the story is nonsense; Defuse mode falls flat

Battlefield 4 - Review

If you've been sitting on the fence regarding the purchase of a next generation console, Battlefield 4 is the game that will topple you off in no time. Emboldened by the muscular power of the PlayStation 4, DICE has elevated the console version of its seminal warfare sim so that it now sits...

Huge; thrilling maps crammed with vehicles and action; Well-balanced XP system ensures you're constantly rewarded; Levolution features will blow you away

Single player campaign is forgettable; Current gen console versions feel small in comparison; No co-op missions or bonus modes

Battlefield 4

In its 11-year history, the Battlefield series has provided gamers with some memorable moments. Whether it's a dramatic scene from the single player campaign or a spectacular kill in multiplayer, gamers will never forget that moment for as long as they live.

Brilliant multiplayer; Gameplay improvements are noticeable; Excellent soundtrack

Short single-player campaign; Number of bugs and freezing issues; The developer has clearly concentrated more on the next-gen version
