Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H6

If recent products are any indication, something happens to headphones when they cross the $350 price barrier -they get covered in leather . The Sennheiser Momentum , Bowers & Wilkins P7 , and now the $399.99 (direct) Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H6 all feature eye-catching leather designs.

Near flat-response audio performance, with no distortion at top volumes; Detachable cable with inline remote and microphone for mobile devices; Comfortable fit and thoughtful, simple design

Quite expensive; Flat-response sound profile might not suit all listeners

Perfect for my needs

I am a 69 year old guy who loves to listen to music. However, I now have hearing aids due to deteriorating hearing. I bought the B&O phones because they provide me with a comfortable fit over my ears (with aids on), and the best sound without annoying feedback.

Comfortable

B&O BeoPlay H6 review

The B&O BeoPlay H6 is one of the best-looking pairs of headphones we've seen, and thankfully they sound as good as they look. Whether or not they're worth the colossal price tag or not is up to you, for some design is as important as performance and so for these people it will be an easy sell.

They're really light; Great looks; Balanced sound

Colossol price tag; Plastic edges

B&O BeoPlay H6

The BeoPlay H6 are B&O's latest headphones. At £329.99, they're clearly aiming to compete with headphones like the B&W P7 , the Sennheiser Momentum and the Bose QuietComfort 15 . They're classy headphones for those who want good sound quality on the go.

Great looks; Good sound quality

Better Buy from Store to test immediately. Save yourself the hassle returning if defective.

Headset looks great. Sound so far is crisp listening to music. However when watching movies on your iPad or Iphone the sound will distort beyond recognition. This happened on the 2nd day of use. B&O states that I have to return the headset possibly due to a defective jack/wire.

Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H6 Review

If recent products are any indication, something happens to headphones when they cross the $350 price barrier—they get covered in leather. The Sennheiser Momentum, Bowers & Wilkins P7, and now the $399.99 (direct) Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H6 all feature eye-catching leather designs. The audio performance of all three is also top notch, though the H6 offers a far more flat response that might appeal to audiophiles more than the others. DesignB&O keeps the design flourishes to a minimum with the H6, which at first glance doesn't scream luxury like the B&W P7 does. The circumaural (over-the-ear) design uses leather nearly as plentifully, but the real flourishes are hidden from view when the H6 is being worn. The interior grille of each earcup is a neon yellow-green and boldly states L or R so you know which earcup is which. I happen to love this move, since it's much easier than squinting to find tiny letters on headphones to figure out which is the right way to wear it. The overall f...

A stark contrast to the recent wave of big-bass options, the Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay H6 is a luxury headphone pair for the lover of flat, crisp response.

B&O Beoplay H6 (2nd generation)

If you're expecting the H6 to sound like the aforementioned Sennheiser combo or a Hifiman Edition X, you'd be mistaken. But the H6 is a fraction of the cost. I have honestly fallen in love with the H6 so much that I have ended my search for a highend headphone.

Musicality and feeling

Still better amped

Bang & Olufsen's BeoPlay H6 headphones

B&O believes the H6 headphones are optimised for life on the move, but, if you want to travel with these bad boys, you need to have the space to carry them – or you can wear them as a fashion statement around your neck, because they certainly look good enough.
