Verdict: The Audeze Sine has been out for a while now, receiving much well-deserved fanfare from audiophiles and casual listeners alike. But all the hype aside, how well does this $449 headphone perform We put it through the paces to see just what kind of sound this baby is packing.

Wonderful sound, drop dead gorgeous styling and top notch build quality

Verdict: I spent a month looking for a set of headphones for my new iPhone, going into multiple branches of John Lewis, Seven Oaks, and Richer Sounds as well as Home AV Direct to compare candidate headphones side by side.

Verdict: Audeze isn't a very old headphone maker, but it's one that has made a quick impact in the short time that it's been around. Considered by many to be the best headphone brand in the world, Audeze's products are widely acclaimed.

Audeze Sine review: When Lightning strikes

5.0
Pros: Beautiful design and fixtures, superb full audio quality, hi-resolution audio experience, lightweight and easy to wear
Cons: Need an Lightning connector device (recent iPhone, iPad) to get the full audio experience, could fit more snug
Verdict: With Apple expected to ditch the 3.5mm jack, iPhone users will have two choices: either brave it in the world of wireless earphones, or find a Lightning connector-equipped set of cans. The Audeze Sine fits in the latter category.

Audeze SINE On-Ear Planar Magnetic Headphones Review

Verdict: When using the SINE headphones with the included 3.5 mm stereo cable, rather than the Lightning connector, I noticed two things at one: first, these are far more powerful than one might assume from their size and refined appearance, and second, I needed some very good source material.

Audeze Sine On-Ear Headphone

4.0
Verdict: There is turmoil in the world of headphones. As rumors swell that Apple will be removing the 3.5mm analog headphone jack from its next version of the iPhone, many are worried that they will be forced to carry extra dongles or choose between a limited set of headphones that are "iPhone compatible.

Audeze Sine On-ear review

5.0
Pros: Planar magnetic drivers - tech voodoo, but sound fantastic, Lightning DAC means you're ready for the iPhone 7, Interchangeable cables play nice with non-iOS gear
Cons: Credit cards at the ready - they're expensive, Design is a little basic
Verdict: Can you get a better sounding pair of headphones? Sure, if you splash the cash. What about a better looking pair that still have great audio, and won't leak so you can actually use them outside the house? That narrows the pool of choices right down.

Verdict: At £450, these are not a cheap pair of headphones. For this kind of money, there's no shortage of superb alternatives, in both in-ear, on-ear or over-ear flavours. For instance, Sennheiser's £90 HD 25's don't have anything like the delicacy or precision of the Sines, but if you want a tight, punchy...

Oppo PM3 vs. Audeze Sine: battle of the portable planar magnetic headphones

3.8
Pros: Excellent build quality, Ergonomically faultless, Surprisingly good sound isolation, Technically impressive sound, Lightest planar magnetic cans you can find, Understated, handsome design, Sound that's rich on detail and easy to love
Cons: Unexciting sound, Pads are not removable, Uncomfortable to wear for extended periods of time, Struggle with some genres of music
Verdict: Before Dr. Dre and Beats came along, only committed audiophiles cared to spend more than a couple hundred dollars on a pair of headphones. But times have changed, and with smartphones now obviating many of our other gadgets, we all have a bit more cash to lavish on our personal audio equipment.

Audeze Sine review

3.5
Verdict: The Audeze Sine, unlike most other headphones, are ready for a future that actually may not come to fruition. I'm talking about the possibility of a 3.5mm-less iPhone 7 and how Apple's move could signal a big change in the way manufacturers make headphones.

Audeze Sine Headphones Review: Luxury for Less

4.0
Pros: Elegant yet sturdy design, Spacious soundscape, Comfortable for long listening sessions, Affordable for Audeze headphones
Cons: Somewhat heavy, Standard cable lacks inline mic and remote
Verdict: As a premier high-end audio brand, Audeze could have charged much more for the effortlessly stylish Sine headphones. But these cans sell for a mere $449, despite being the first to pack planar magnetic drivers in a closed-back design, delivering big, spacious audio with little distortion.

Like a Sports Car for Your Head: The Audeze SINE and Cipher Lightning Cable

Verdict: The Audeze SINE is a tight, good looking, little sports car for your head. This on-ear, sealed, planar magnetic headphone is a solid-performing portable headphone made particularly cool when used with the DSP/DAC/Amp Cipher cable on Apple iOS devices.

Audeze Sine On-Ear

4.0
Pros: Powerful, vibrant, balanced audio performance. Stylish, comfortable design. Ships with 24-bit cable that receives digital audio via lightning connection on iOS devices
Cons: Added bass presence and digital signal processing will irk purists. Lightning cable can become loose if not firmly connected to mobile device
Verdict: For this price, plenty of readers will be after a slightly more traditional, flat response-style pair of headphones, and there are certainly excellent options to choose from. We like the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro , the Blue Lola , the Master & Dynamic MH40 , and Audeze's own EL-8 Open Back , to name...

Review: Audeze Sine

Verdict: A few months ago, we told you about the imminent arrival of Sine , the new compact on-ear headphones from Audeze. They use planar magnetic drivers, not the dynamic drivers found in most headphones.

Audeze Sine

4.3
Pros: The swanky, sturdily built Audeze Sine is among the smallest and most affordable headphones to use planar magnetic drivers. It offers very revealing, spacious sound in a closed-back design.
Cons: The headphone's a little heavy -- comfortable, but not extraordinarily so. Included 3.5mm headphone cord doesn't have an integrated remote and microphone
Verdict: The Audeze Sine is a fantastic headphone that will appeal to anyone looking for truly high-end sound that isn't incredibly expensive.

Audeze Sine Planar-Magnetic Headphone Review

Crinkling sound in left ear cup

5.0
Verdict: First read what is wrong. Namely, the crinkling sound. Air, pressure, aluminium diaphragm and there it is. Apparently, all planars have this "feature". I was unaware, when buying. But once Sine is on my head, the crinckling sound is gone and a beautiful orchestra full of clarity and detail takes me...

Audeze Sine

4.0
Pros: - Perfect combo of sexy design and solid, high-quality construction
Cons: - Awful comfort issues, flimsy cable, deep bass oscillation, pronounced sharp peak at 10k after presence dip
Verdict: If you wear your headphones daily like I do, you can't beat the Audeze Sine. I wear them all day at work, I run with them, and they have been flawless. They look sophisticated in the office, yet are tough enough to wear anywhere.

Game changer

5.0
Verdict: These headphones blow the competition away. The more expensive modals must be out of this world. As the budget end of this brand i was not expecting them to be this good. The amount of detail they recover from my ageing Technics CD player was perfect.
