Due to the absence of the external controller, this is basically a cheaper version of the STRIX RAID Pro.

Easy installation; Great audio quality

No stand out feature Basic software

ASUS Strix Soar Sound Card

I've included this sound card in a new computer I built for displaying a virtual reality environment in the new head sets being released in the next few months. I haven't had a chance to experience what the card will do in this new environment but my current experience with the cards capabilities is...

Worked great until

I've normally never had a problem with Asus products, this sound card was a bit of a disappointment for causing my gaming issues after about 2 weeks of use. And the use of outdated parts means that they only have a limited amount of these things with this chip.

Never used a sound card before; I've always used the motherboards sound or my keyboard sound(Logitech G510); I was impressed and still am impressed by the quality of sound coming out of this thing.

Well; it worked great until one today when playing subnatica it decides to start making popping sounds and cracking sounds; but I still haven't ruled out the sound card for that one; cause it still plays music fantastically.

Maybe a bad card but so far problematic and underwhelming... and Why does a PCIE sound card need you to install a USB driver

So far not a good experience. Windows 10 64 bit. Downloaded the latest drivers from Asus. At first I avoided the recommended usb 3.1 driver (Asmedia USB3.1 Driver Improve latency) as I couldn't see a need. And why would a pcie sound card need a USB driver upgrade

ASUS STRIX Soar PCIExpress 7.1 gaming sound card review

KitGuru Says: The ASUS STRIX Soar is a great product in its own right, but considering its price point, it becomes a must have upgrade for any-gamer still having to deal with the failings of onboard audio.

High grade components; good build quality; Attractive EMI shroud; Many; single-panel software suite options that are intuitive to use; Full support for up to 7.1 surround sound; 192KHz/24bit audio; Very affordable

Lacks volume control and RAID mode; No molex to PCIE power converter in the bundle

Great sound card, does everything I want it to do

Not sure on why there's a lot of hate for this card. I unboxed, installed and setup the drivers right away there was no problems at all everything installed how it should do. One cool feature is the ability to have a sound sonar so in games you can track which direction sound such as gunfire is...

Decent hardware let down by terrible drivers

I got this to replace the on-board MSI audio (which was too quiet). However, I have 3 problems with this product. 1. It requires a separate 6-pin connector. I don't know why I needs this, other sound cards do not require this. 2.
