I purchased this drive from B&H for use with a MacBook Pro. The USB cable splits at the computer end and has two USB connectors about 2 apart. BOTH must be plugged in for the unit to work.

My customer wanted a low cost BluRay player for their new computer and this did the trick. It did not come with software to view BluRay movies but there are plenty of free options you can find with a simple internet search. It would have been nice to not have to do that but it was a minor problem.
Bought this to use with a intel NUC as part of my HTPC. It does what a player/burner should but the specs listed PowerDVD 10 as being included (and it is not). Good thing I have AnyDVD and VLC or this would not be able to play Blurays. Also it is a bit loud.
decent quality; vertical stand
Does not come with PowerDVD 10; loud
Took just under four hour round trip to buy then it needed two usb ports to get the required power and just shut down my computer. Was not happy to have to go back again and nothing else to replace it. I was willing to pay more for something usable but nope. Nothing more with Asus written on it
The unit Doesn't burn the blu-ray media, lost my money with it. only works with DVDs. The design is ok.
try a drive that includes software to do what is promised.
nice design
Add 50 bucks onto price for bluray software as it is not included on driver cd eject is only 1 "; drive has to be hand pulled first before cd is placed in carriage Asus support is terrible Asus website is full of broken links; empty pulldowns and nonpopulated and highly censored faqs trouble...
Come On ASUS, you should have bundled the player... Who would of thought a drive with bundled software would only write bluray content, not play Bluray (movie) Disks.
Nice external BD-R drive with software to burn DVD's Blurays etc; (cyberlink Power2Go 7) Makes your own Bluray data disks
Power 2 Go software does NOT Play Bluray (movie) content! Thats's right, you need a different piece of software for that; So if a backup solution is what you want this is the drive if you want to watch a Bluray, you need to shell out some cash for the software
I would recommend this product. You can do everything with Blu-ray, DVD and CD (except watch Blu-ray movies). I just wish it was written clear as day on the Scan ad and on the product packaging itself that this does not come with Blu-ray playback software.
Good product for the price most other burners were running a hundred dollars plus but I got this on sale for 79.99 with $20 rebate good Burns pretty fast and burns pretty consistent I would highly recommend
To those complaining that this product doesn't burn Blue-Ray: Of course it doesn't because it's a player. It burns DVDs and CDs, and works just fine. Freezing (especially on multiple players) is a PC software problem. Try 1st updating drivers. Lack of bundled software overcome by using VLC (free).
