Astro A50 Wireless gaming headset review

Astro has a history of delivering some of the best gaming headsets on the market, and while they may not always be the most cost-effective, that doesn't mean they're not worth the cash if you have some to spare.

Astro A50 Wireless Review

Extremely comfortable; Strong audio quality; Very easy to use; Sturdy construction; Immersive surround sound;

Design won't appeal to all; Slightly too much head-gripping force; Very expensive;

Astro A50 Wireless review

The Astro A50 Wireless is one of the most expensive gaming headsets on offer, but the features, build quality and Dolby-powered audio quality largely reflect the high price point.

Fantastic headset

If you're looking for a high quality gaming headset, you can't go wrong with this one. Super stylish and incredibly comfy, the microphone picks up sound well, and the sound quality is exceptional. The base for charging is super sleek, although it does produce a lot of light so may not be suitable for bedrooms with light-sensitive sleepers. However, that's one small fault for an otherwise exceptional product.

Astro Premium Quality

I previously had the Gen3 Astros and they were flawless and gave me phenomenal sound and precision sound direction (footsteps, voices etc). These Gen4 Astros are essentially the same but offer an even better battery life which is well over 15hrs and redesigned base station charger which is slimmer and offers better electrical contact when docking the headphones (in most cases with the gen3 you’d need to spend a good 30seconds trying to dock the headphones correctly on the contacts before they would charge)

Next Level

Best headset i've ever had, previously had A40's and the previous A50's, had turtle beach headsets and they have nothing on this, the Dolby atmos takes game sound to the next level. also a feature it doesn't list is if you're in the middle of using your headset and the take them off and put them on a table to go do something they will sense they are have been put down and switch off, and when you pick it up again it will switch on, saving you battery. great range as well, and fully charged will last over 15 hours.

Not worth the price

Sound quality isn’t amazing, though the EQ software allows you to fine tune things, the headphones themselves just aren’t at a comparable quality level to the price. The base is works but you need to hold your mouth just right to get the charging points to line up despite them being magnetised

Astro A50 review: Still king of wireless headsets, still expensive

The Astro A50 packs phenomenal sound and wireless convenience, if you’re willing to throw down $300.

Loud, clear microphone; Phenomenal audio, right out of the box;

Exorbitant price—you could get audiophile-grade headphones for this; Velvety earcups get sweaty, pick up lint;

Astro A50 (2019) review: Convenience costs money

Expensive as ever, Astro’s redesigned A50 nevertheless makes a case for its sticker price with a sleeker charging cradle, a return to the more reliable 2.4GHz band, and a refined audio profile.

Charging cradle is smaller and still very unique; Switches to the more reliable 2.4GHz band (finally); Comfortable and durable;

Middling battery life; Poor noise isolation; Expensive;
