Apologies for the lateness of this review. Alien: Isolation's been out in the wild for just over 48 hours already, but I only just managed to clamber out from under the table I'd been cowering for the past fortnight and actually finish the game.

If you like games such as Outlast, and Silent Hill then Alien Isolation is for you. The graphics are amazing, the music and sounds create a very tense atmosphere where you will be constantly paranoid a big scare or event is near.
I love this game. Best graphic game on Ps4. The sound design is superb. Alien Isolation is a well done Alien game. This game is sexy and badass! Alien is back ****
While it has a few rough patches and may prove too slow and drawn-out for some players, Isolation does an amazing job of capturing the essence of a classic film and recasting it as a video game.
It's been a while since the xenomorph was worth being scared of, and while Alien: Isolation runs a little long, it's a hellacious ride.
In many respects, the Ripleys of Alien fame are a lot like the Brodys from Jaws. The heads of the family - Ellen and Martin, respectively - are just trying to get by in life doing less-than-stellar jobs in mostly unexciting places until some arsehole monster comes along to ruin it all.
A masterfully produced horror that overcomes length issues through supreme scares.
Just about the best 'boo!' moments you'll play in any horror; The Alien is a thing of deadly; beautifully-executed grace; The spookiest and most savvy sound design of the year
A couple of droid-heavy acts sag in what's an overly long quest; Some frame rate hiccups on console
It's the first step towards the Alien game you've always wanted. But it's a tiny, uncertain step. Given the poor showing of the last few major games set in the Alien universe, however, it's a welcome one.
Alien cat-and-mouse encounters can be tense and frightening; Nails the right retro-futuristic atmosphere; Great use of sound and motion-tracking
Loaded with uninspired filler, Trial and error + distant save points = frustration, Some mechanics are inconsistent; others are illogical
From the moment you begin, the atmosphere is dripping from every corner of Alien: Isolation. Creative Assembly have successfully created not only an expansive world to explore and traverse, but also t
Pacing problems and a lack of variety take their toll, but in its best most moments this is the most successful big budget survival horror in a decade.
Incredible visuals and a near perfect recreation of the world of Alien; Solid stealth gameplay and uncompromising survival horror thrills; Fan service is off the charts for movie buffs
Pacing problems and an overstretched running time expose an inherent lack of variety in enemies and gameplay; Minimal plot and no memorable characters
