Aftershokz Trekz Titanium Bone Conduction Open Ear Headphone

My brother got these and I tried them. They were so awesome I had to have my own pair. It's incredible how you can hear the music and still hear what's going on around you. Amazing. Most workplaces allow these now. Mine work perfectly and Target had the best price anywhere at the time.

Great concept, but not comfortable fit

Bone conduction technology is great if you want to avoid headphones that enter your ear canal. The sound quality was really good. However, the wrap that goes around the back of the head is rigid and not adjustable, leaving too much space between it and the back of your head.

Excellent for exercise or the office

Product is super light weight and comfortable to wear. The bone-conduction method leaves your ears free, so you can listen to music and run or bike (or even just sit at your desk at the office) and still hear what is going on around you. Sound quality is solid, controls work really well.

poor sound quality, uncomfortable

I bought these mostly for mountain biking because I seemed to be crash-prone when wearing earbuds either because of having something shoved into my ear canal was messing with my equilibrium or because of the cognitive disconnect from not being able hear the ground crunching under my tires.

After a few months of use, I can now give a review of this strange product. Following the default of how many others do when they make an assessment, so plus and minus follow below. Plus: - Connects quickly to bluetooth and keeps the connection good.

Aftershokz Trekz Air Headphones review

Aftershokz' unique bone conduction design has the huge advantage of not covering your ears. The speaker element sits in front of your ear, on your cheekbone, and vibrations generated by the sealed units conduct the sound.

Long runtime; clear sound; quality construction

High price; overwhelmed by wind noise at higher speeds

Not great for cycling with a jacket

The main issue is when wearing a jacket, the headphones get pulled around behind the neck and makes it uncomfortable and difficult to look behind. This is really bad when you need to look around often through the city. Also not great with a helmet, but it's acceptable.

Retailing for $130 (as low as $110 HERE ), the Aftershokz Trekz Titanium are more expensive than your basic wireless headphones, but they justify the price with performance and safety. I found them to be superior during a workout because they stay in place comfortably no matter what I'm doing.

AfterShokz Trekz Air headphones review

Do you exercise or commute in magnificent isolation? Blocking-out ambient noise is the best way to immerse yourself in your music. If you're working out in a gym then that's all fine, but if you're out on a run in an urban environment, or commuting through busy streets and stations, you do actually...

Exacting design; Comfortable & stable fit; Flexible & lightweight; Helps situational awareness

Low volume; Ear 'tickle; Sound quality is lacking; Short battery life

AfterShokz Trekz Air

Truth be told, I haven't reviewed a bone-conduction headphone for several years. The reason for that was the early models I tested from AfterShokz sounded so bad it was hard to recommend them to anyone.

The AfterShokz Trekz Air is a slimmed down bone-conduction headphone that offers improved sound and is very comfortable to wear, leaving your ears open to hear the outside world; It works well as a headset for making cell-phone call and comes with a nice carrying pouch

While the sound quality is improved; it's still not as good as what you'd get from a comparably priced "traditional" headphone
