Acer X1161P DLP Projector - A Comparison

The Acer X1161P is the entry level projector of Acer's X1 Series. We compared the Acer X1161P (MSRP $349) to its more expensive and more advanced sibling, the Acer X1261P (MSRP $519), which we recently reviewed and awarded the Best in Classroom Runner-Up Award in our annual Classroom Comparison...

Excellent value based on $400 ballpark street price; 3D ready - just add active glasses; and appropriate 3D content; 3D support for DLP 3D; and also Nvidia's standard; Very good brightness - beats its 2700 lumen claim; good for medium sized rooms with ambient light; Extremely portable at under 5

No digital input (HDMI or DVI, Only a single VGA input, so only one hi res input; Switching may be needed for a computer and a hi-res video source using component video, Remote doubles as control panel.

Great value!

While this is not a fancy projector it performs well considering we only use a wall to project on. I would have appreciated getting a manual or disk with it. It runs very quiet compared with older ones I have been around. It does provide standard and wide screen options.

X1161

Highly recommended for budget projector

Bright image with a reasonable price; Quiet operation; Not bad for a SVGA projector

No HDMI input; No Component input; The glossy casing easily gets scratched

Works great, does what is described. Remote is difficult to use and there are no buttons on projector so without it.... I don't know if it would be usable. Plan to research ordering a backup remote.

Cracking Projector

And I have to say hand on heart it is brilliant, I normally dont like projectors because the colour is always wrong it looks kinda grainy at times and to be honest If I was going to spend a few hundred pounds why not buy a nice 42" screen which is nicer has built in sound e.c.t

User friendly?

It certainly does the job and is well built and balanced. May with trying to be more user friendly, the menu does not offer many otions for custom set up. That's the only real downside. I like it enough to get another one for another room in our building.

Unbelievable price/performance ratio. This projector is ideal for watching DVDs. I tested it on a 96" screen using cheap white 'Blackout Cloth' available at Jo-Ann fabrics. Even scope format DVDs using only ~333 of the 600 lines look incredible.
