Acer Iconia W510 Review
This week we're having a look at the Acer Iconia W500 series, specifically in the model tagged Iconia W510-1422 with full Windows 8 and multiple modes of computing action. This machine works as a tablet, as a notebook with its keyboard dock (in the box with this model), and with 295 degrees of twist...

Acer ICONIA W510: Budget Win 8 Hybrid Tablet
We have seen quite a few Windows 8 'laptops' that come with touch screens which best utilise the Metro interface of the new OS (we expect many more such models to come out in the next few months).
Pros:
- Very portable
- Solid build
- Responsive screen
- Amazingly long battery life
- Well-priced
Cons:
- Slows down while multitasking
- Erratic touchpad
- Scarce storage

This Clover Trail Atom-powered convertible tablet PC is attractive and well-built, with extraordinary battery life when used with its keyboard base. It's good for business users with light computing (and long endurance) needs, but power users will want a better CPU and more RAM.
Pros:
- Long battery life
- Sturdy-feeling
- Good-looking screen and chassis
- Ample connectivity
- Battery-boosting keyboard dock
Cons:
- Sluggish graphics performance
- No 64-bit application support
- Not enough RAM to run very demanding apps

Horrible experience!
This is the worst tablet/PC I have ever owned (returning today). Out of the box, it was challenging to get working and never did set up properly. Acer quality is awful, the device turns off frequently, the keyboard is very dodgy and doesn't pick up your keystroke or mouse moves half the time.

The 16:9 aspect ratio of the Acer Iconia W510's 10.1-inch, 1366 by 768 display is mirrored by the unit's 10.2-inch by 7.3-inch form --a form quite common in the Windows 8 tablet realm.

Find out more about how we test laptops .
Pros:
- The Acer Iconia W510 is less expensive than some other Atom-based hybrids
- and its detachable tablet screen is light and portable.
Cons:
- In laptop mode
- the system is awkwardly top-heavy
- and the puny keyboard and touch pad are not designed for serious use

Not a bad tablet, but not a Windows Surface
I purchased this tablet because I needed something portable with windows so that I could get work done without necessarily having to be in the office. It's a decent tablet for the most part but I also have a Microsoft Surface RT tablet which is way better in my opinion.
Pros:
- Very light
- decent design overall
Cons:
- Doesn't come with Microsoft Office
- slow to download or update anything

Acer Iconia W510
Taking a cue from Samsung, Acer has released this hybrid tablet/laptop. The Intel Atom Z2760-powered Iconia W510 has a 10.1-inch display with 1366 x 768 resolution that detaches from the keyboard to become a touchscreen tablet.
Pros:
- Battery life: 9 hours as a tablet
- 18 hours as a laptop
- Completely silent
- Overall responsiveness
- Expandable memory (microSD
Cons:
- Very little processing power (CPU and GPU
- Has trouble deporting image to peripheral displays
- Little connectivity
- Audio in need of revision

Acer Iconia W510 review
There's something about the tablet-plus-keyboard dock format that seems to appeal to manufacturers of Windows 8 tablets. Sure, it's possible to buy the Dell XPS 10 or the Asus Vivo Tab RT as a pure tablet, but there's something about both models that makes you suspect the keyboard isn't just an...
Pros:
- Good design with versatile hinge
- Excellent battery life
- Affordable price
- Runs full-fat Windows 8
Cons:
- Minor issues with the keyboard layout
- More a convertible netbook than laptop
