Not Completely Sold Yet

This is my first tablet after years of using laptops. First, I must say this "refurbished" Iconia tab looked brand new right out of the box. I have an Android smartphone that I rooted and installed a custom ROM, so that was the first thing I did with the Acer.
Pros:
  • bright screen
  • battery life
  • value for money
Cons:
  • Preloaded Programs
  • Size & Weight
  • some android apps

well built 10" tablet by acer

The a500 is Acer main 10" honeycomb offering. Fairly Responsive to touch, most apps run great. Over all well done, strong allumin backplate, bright screen with good color(not ips great) great black level.

Excellent but incompleted

ACER ICONIA W500 is really good and has Windows 7. It is upgradable to WIN 8 and believe it works wonder in WIN8. It is a mini computer with touch facility. This TAB is good and friendly.

Hands-on Review: Acer Iconia Tab A500

Acer is just one of many companies playing its hand in the rapidly growing tablet space. But can any tablet actually overtake the Apple iPad for the number one position?

Acer Iconia Tab A500 and A501

Conclusion The Acer Iconia Tab A500 has a lot going for it, most notably the relatively low price to feature ratio. Acer has made an attractive tablet that doesn't look the least bit cheap, and the features are largely on par with tier 1 brands like Motorola, Samsung and LG.
Pros:
  • Con: Our unit turned itself on every minute or so
  • can't play 1080p video
  • unused slot is covered only by tape
Cons:
  • Price: $449 for the A500 WiFi-only model
  • $329 with AT&T contract, $479 without contract for AT&T A501 model

Acer Iconia Tab A500 in-depth review -

Tablets, we know, are the future. They may not do everything a laptop can, but their great video playback and gaming capabilities plus thousands of apps make them highly appealing. This is the second tablet to run Android's fully-fledged tablet OS, Honeycomb, following Motorola's Xoom earlier in the...
Pros:
  • Decent styling
  • fast processor
Cons:
  • Heavy
  • Honeycomb not to all tastes
  • battery life not the best

I still really like using the A500 over having to use a normal laptop like I was before, it is just so much nicer that it is always on and I can just hit the power button and go! Still very happy with this purchase

Acer Iconia A500 review: Acer Iconia A500

With HDMI and USB ports, Acer's A500 is more business friendly than the competition, but these features only add to its weight and ultimately makes this tablet too heavy to use as intended. What should a tablet computer look like? If this question has you imagining Apple's iPad, then you're not alone; it seems as though you share this concept with Acer's design team. The A500 sports a 10.1-inch display up front, surrounded by cool, grey brushed metal in a shade slightly darker than that chosen by the Cupertino designers. Unlike the iPad, the A500 is littered with ports and switches around the edge of the tablet, offering connectivity options unknown to anyone who has bought a tablet before now.
Pros:
  • Solid performance. Loads of connectivity options including USB and HDMI.
Cons:
  • Too heavy to hold for long periods. Glossy screen is hard to read outdoors. Average battery life.
