So that's that, we have been able to take a good look at the Ryzen 7 3800X processor. There's one more left in September, the 16-core part. The 3800X is half that in the sense that it has 8-cores and 16-threads.

I bought this as part of a new build to replace my aging i7-4790k DDR3 build. Setup was incredibly easy and the provided Wraith cooler works well. I love the intelligent auto-boost/overclock capabilities; I didn't have to touch anything in the BIOS besides setting the D.O.C.P.
Upgraded from an old Core i5-6500 and the performance increase is unreal. This thing shreds through Premiere Pro, I'm able to play back native 4K with effects in the timeline without lag. Most games (Battlefield, Deus Ex, Forza) don't even come near to maxing out the CPU at maximum settings. The one thing I will say is that it does run hot - currently using a Noctua D15s which is a massive improvement over the (not too shabby) stock cooler. I've also noticed than when fully maxing out the CPU, I'm never able to hit the max boost speed even though my temps are around ~60C. Regardless, the processor is unlocked for overclocking which I will...view more
Upgraded to this from my 2700x along with a new mother board, cooler, and ram, and all I can say is the possibilities with this thing are endless. Paired with a 2080s it’s by far the best piece of kit I’ve Owned, perfect for video editing, and gaming at 1440p at high fps. Definitely recommended.
This CPU is great! Note, not as good value as 3700X but you do get a better bin (better overclocking potential). On this note, the stock cooler is not enough - while it works with it, it is extremely loud and does not allow you to take true advantage of this model over 3700x, but if you are buying this, you don't expect to use it anyway. Overall very happy with the purchase, in terms of gaming performance: It does push frames at about 15% faster than my RTX2080 super. (Without streaming.) Well balanced choice if you compliment with RTX2080 Ti or stream VR. Fantastic for multithreaded CPU heavy work as well.
Great CPU and the cooler attached is great (used to buying Intel and all the coolers I have gotten with their CPU's have been lack luster). As stated above this is a great CPU for it's price tag, Would recommend for any body with a reasonable budget looking for a great gaming PC
Could not be more pleased, might be overkill for some, but I love the performance I get.
