AMD FX-8350 Vishera Desktop Processor

Ask any AMD fan how they feel about the FX-8150 "Bulldozer" CPU, and you'll get one of two responses: massive disappointment or frenzied rationalizations (you can check out the comments section of Benchmark Review's FX-8150 review to see examples of both).
Pros:
  • Eight cores and 5GHz on your desktop computer
  • Officially supports DDR3-1866 memory
  • Better performance than Intel on multithreaded tasks
  • An FX system has 38 usable PCI-E lanes as opposed to the 24 lanes of a Sandy Bridge system
  • Excellent price/performance ratio
  • finally competitive with Intel in...

AMD FX-8350 review

A decent update to the previous gen chip, but it's still not necessarily the chip we'd recommend to the bargain PC builders.

AMD FX-8350 review

When AMD was throwing around the specs of its first bulldozer chips we all sat up and took notice. After all, it was AMD's first new CPU technology redesign for an absolute age, and what it was planning on doing with the new bulldozer microarchitecture looked pretty darned revolutionary.

AMD FX-8350 review

The FX-8350 is the first of AMD's 2012 range of performance processors. There's a clock speed boost and a new core design, which AMD hopes will start to close the performance gap between its chips and Intel's all-conquering Core range.

"Amazing chip, if a little hot... and loud..."

Locked away in my study, on a dark and cold winter's day, I whimper at each email, SMS and IM message I receive. My computer monitor is my only source of light; fear my only companion.

  • Very fast
  • amazing value
  • easy to install
Cons:
  • Run hot
  • loud fan when trying to keep it cool

FX-8350

This is a good processor and wod recommend it to any1 who loves high end gaming and needs raw power for the most demanding applications. I run a dual boot system of w7 and ppc64 and works realy well on both with a SSHD drive give this a shot and you won't be disappointed aspecialy with fx sabertooth...
Pros:
  • This thing is realy good considering it's not 9370 or 9570 as the 9370 is a 8350 overclocked by default when purchased
  • For a processor running at 4.0 and the price it beats even the Intel when paired with right mobo
Cons:
  • When I purchased this cpu I was not impressed after installing it to get Red CPU_LED n removed it to find out the pins were bent when purchased it
  • I have never had one processor over the yrs of building with bent pins n have built 20 systems in last 10yrs

"Great"

Runs games like a charm and I recommend getting the cooler master hyper 212 evo because the stock heat sink is loud but it does keep the core under 50 degrees.

From Fx 4350 to Fx 8350 Upgrade Path

It was a huge upgrade paths from what I started out with to buy a Fx 4350 $70 and a brand new Gigabyte board Fx990 Ud3 Ultra for $130 as a replacement of my x79 Asus Pro 3960x to be given to my big brother sometime in the future, he will get better use out of it than me.
Pros:
  • In comparison: The Fx 8350 help ran my games even better like Dirt Rally for example
  • On map like Finland on clear night, the frame rate went from a overclock Fx 4350 4.7Ghz to a Stock speed and under-volt to 1.3v to be averaging over 80fps compare to getting 57fps average on Ultra setting 5760x1080...
Cons:
  • Single core is weaker
  • 3dMark Fire strike combine graphic test run (the last test) ran way better on the Fx 4350 than the Fx 8350, however the physical test run did way better than the Fx 4350 and I don't know why it getting beat on all test but one when overclock to 4.7Ghz at 1.42V by a mere 3%.
