AMD FX-8350 review

The FX-8350 is the first of AMD's 2012 range of performance processors. There's a clock speed boost and a new core design, which AMD hopes will start to close the performance gap between its chips and Intel's all-conquering Core range.

AMD Piledriver FX-8350 Review

AMD have certainly raised the game with the revised version of Bulldozer, known now as Piledriver. However, we have not seen the quoted 'up to 23%' improvement which AMD said there should be. Obviously, that is in an ideal world it may be that big of a difference between the two CPUs.
Pros:
  • + Definite clock for clock improvement over Bulldozer
  • + Increased clock speeds whilst keeping the same TDP
  • + Competes against the Intel Core i5 3570K in lots of tasks
  • + Good performance for the money

AMD FX-8350 Overclocking + Liquid Cooling System Review

In my previous FX-8350 article I was able to achieve a fairly solid 4.6 GHz overclock on above average cooling. I had to take voltage up to 1.55v for the product, which is approaching a point where I get pretty uncomfortable. The FX chips are very heat sensitive.

AMD FX-8350 review

and its line of FX-CPUs last year, AMD's new CPUs now face an even sterner test. Since the release of the FX-8150 and the subsequent line of FX-branded CPUs, Intel has compounded its woes with its Ivy Bridge architecture's 22nm die-shrink, increasing performance while dropping power consumption.

FX-8350 shows a significant increase in score and manages to beat all our Core i3s and even Core i5-2400 (according to our previous tests), not to mention other AMD processors. This group of tests doesn't favor the new module architecture, so Phenom II X6 1100T is still the fastest AMD CPU in the...
