AKG K271 Closed-Back Headphone

Noted for its line of easy-to-wear and excellent headphones, AKG has introduced an "improved" line of professional headphones, including updates of the venerable K240 (now K240 Studio) and the K270, the new K271 Studio reviewed..

The door to better sounding music!

I have been a fan of AKG products for some time now, and trust me, after you buy these YOU WILL TOO!!! these headphones are great for recording, mixing, or just listening to music and jamming out!

"Impressive sound and depth for a closed design. Easily powered 'enough' by an iPod. Definately thin on the low end."

Im amazed at how well these sound for a closed design. I have the K701 which are great at making the sound seem further away. The K271 does a nice job there. I tested these from a standard PC sound card prior to testing on an amplifier and quality source.

Excellent tracking cans

Comfortable and accurate. I've tracked all day with these, and been the better off for it. I have yet to find anything I don't like about these headphones. My other pair of older K240M's seldom get used anymore, though due to the semi-open back of those, they are still more useful for general...

Read a number of reviews on this pair of headphones before buying, and was quite surprised that no one mentioned the boxy band ( maybe somewhere around 3.5 - 5k ?? ) of upper mids. some songs are pretty effected by it, others not so much.

Great clarity & sound stage (esp; for closed), great tone on guitar / electric keys, bass is very detailed and punchy

biggest issue is boxiness in the upper-mids; minor issue - bass is not BOOMing; its mostly the upper bass that you can hear (100+ Hz

Perfect

the AKG K 271 MKII were on the higher end of my price range so I was hesitating a lot before I dove in and purchased them. But eventually I fished out the 250 to get them. Originally I was not too happy with the design of them because I just felt like they were kind of too plain to cost that much...

Over the moon

I treated myself to these after being advised by my favourite audio/podcast specialist - they are entry level to a whole new world and coming from a cheepo headset, this one blew my little ears.. in a good way. You only realise something isn't good when you try something in a different league...

I bought these headphones as a replacement for my Beyer DT990. The Beyer are high impedance and I found a problem feeding them from some of my equipment. The AKG are lower impedance and give more volume with some of my gear making them more useful.

AKG K271

Headphones play an important role in the studio, most often for performer monitoring, but they're also useful as a second reference when checking mixes, as noise or distortion usually shows up more distinctly on headphones than over loudspeakers.

AKG K271 MKII

The AKG K271 is a true classic – and quite rightly so. Its basses are beautifully "un-hyped" and precise, and its trebles slightly boosted. Its workmanship and aesthetics are in line with the price but are no high-end luxury. The AKG K271 is and will remain simply a great workhorse.
