The look and the build quality of these headphones are great. They have good bass and are easy to drive. Lacking a little in the mids but nothing like the tri-ports.

A big boy in headphones. Good sound, good channel seperation, comfortable to wear. Flexible and yet very strong reliable construction. Very good value for the price I paid at Amazon UK. I am delighted to have acquired it and I hope others do too.
good comfortable monitoring headphones what can be worn for extended listening
good sound quality; comfortable; reasonable sound isolation
expensive
The visual quailty is really good. It has a good strong construction. The sound quailty is amazing, the highs and mid/bass is astonishing now the low end is just there unless you use an headphone amplifier then it is all in your face with superior sound quailty.
I've used the AKG K240S headphones for a few years now and I remain mystified at all the rave reviews here on Amazon. My experience may be different than some reviews, so I'll explain my approach. I do sound art, composition/production, and I listen for fun.
The look nice, the cord has a dual 3.5mm/.250" jack with a nice gold-plated threaded adapter (best setup I've seen yet for this) and a mini-XLR on the left can only. Comfortable, even on my big head. They don't quite look "pro"--maybe low-end pro.
Good; even; complete sound at very good price
Audiophile Grade "B" at best; appear to be made OK; but not exceptionally well
The AKG D5 is an excellent choice for a dynamic microphone for RECORDING but I would have to disagree with using it for live purposes. It has one problem I don't like. The plosives...the plosives will really urk you with this microphone. My pop filter fixed this problem though.
Ok, so I only spent 3 euros on these at a flea market. The catch was that the original stereo plug had been replaced and botched (all the cables were in the wrong place), so I had to re-solder them. After 10 minutes they were good as new(ish).
Price performance ratio
Not as good as the older versions; needs good amping
I originally bought a set of 4 K240df headsets for my studio 10 years ago and through all of the abuse that goes on in a rental studio they are all still working. The thin cable is a lot more durable than it looks.
The AKG K 240 Studio headphones have been a part of my set up for 2 years now and they are still going strong. I have not had any problems with them from the day that I purchased them and they have been a joy to work with.
