"Huawei Ideos X5: Big Screen For A Lite Phone"

In terms of the look and feel of the phone, the X5 plays out like a ?lite? version of the HTC Desire range. It uses old Android software, there?s less processing power under the hood, it?s got a similar wide, large display, and for all that it?s half the price.

Large display; simplistic, attractive design; good battery life for Android phone; cheap

Bulky size; lacking Wi-Fi tethering

Huawei Ideos X5

Huawei has done a fine job of delivering a phone with a good user experience and most of the components that we expect to see in phones twice- or three-times its price. The handset design isn't attractive but it's functional, and the 8GB microSD included with the X5 is the icing on the cake.

Incredible low price; Great performance; Swype keyboard; 8GB microSD included

No Wi-Fi hotspot, Average battery life, No media sharing, Slowest ..; camera ...

Huawei Ideos X5: Big Screen For A Lite Phone

The Huawei Ideos X5 is a 120x62x11mm smartphone that sports a 3.8 touchscreen with an 800x480 pixel resolution. The screen isn't too bright or sharp, but at least it's wide. On the backend, it hides an 800MHz Qualcomm CPU, 2GB of internal memory and 512MB of RAM.

Large display; simplistic, attractive design; good battery life for Android phone; cheap

Bulky size; lacking Wi-Fi tethering

Huawei IDEOS X5 Android phone

Huawei may not be a brand that immediately comes to mind when you think of mobile phones, but its IDEOS X5 Android phone will certainly get you thinking - it's claimed to offer a better experience than smartphones that cost twice the price.

Value for money; Reasonably stylish design; Decent specifications

Screen hard to see in sunlight; Touch-sensitive buttons not backlit; No word on Gingerbread update

When using the phone and texting, there were some minor annoyances. The sound wasn't as good as my HTC Desire, and the predictive text wasn't as, well, predictive, while you had to be very precise when hitting the keys – not great for somebody with big mitts like myself.

Recently, I've purchased the handset and honestly speaking I'm blown away with its external gaze. Its touch screen looks simply elegant in palm! Adding to this, I like its 5MP snapper and a sturdy battery backup!!

Huawei IDEOS X5

We've already reviewed the smart Red Bull Mobile HD , but sans all the Red Bull bells and whistles, it's actually Huawei's U8800 IDEOS X5. We take the X5 for a spin to find out how it fares in the continuously expanding budget-friendly Android range.

Very good and large display; good specs for budget device; pocket- and grip-friendly dimensions; 4 GB of storage

Unprotected camera lens sticks out of the rear cover; camera lag; Android Froyo not the most up to date version of the mobile OS; and not the most affordable of the budget conscious Android group

Red Bull Mobile HD (Huawei U8800) review

Red Bull Mobile, running on the Cell C network, launched in February 2011 with some rather competitive post-paid contracts on offer. Through the RBM 200 package one can get the RBM HD Android smartphone, and this is the device considered in this review.
