So far this was well worth the money. I am impressed with the low light capability and the auto focus features. I have been recording a lot of indoor auditorium speeches at multiple universities and the G20 is easy to use. The built in stabilizer is nice but it is better with a tripod.

To accommodate XLR ports for an external audio system, use the Beachtek XLR adapter and cable into the Vixia G20's "mic" port. I use a Sennheiser Evolution Wireless Series w100 self-powered system. The headphone jack on the camera is convenient for monitoring sound input while recording.

I looked at this camcorder for months just as you are now. You are thinking is the money really worth it? YES YES YES! I already did a few videos which I make for You Tube and this camcorder is GREAT.

Good images and format. But the features of the camera could be improved. Too many menus within menus and hard to scroll and press. And finger pressing smears up the LCD screen. The hot shoe is a MINI-HOT SHOE so the shotgun mic I bought has a normal base that won't fit!

Very well built durable camcorder with excellent low light quality. The onscreen menus could be more user friendly as well as technological advances would be nice but a quality camcorder.
